I had poor water flow, just a trickle of water from the freezer dispenser door. The ice maker was only putting out small, malformed cubes. It was many years since filter was changed.
This new filter solved everything. It is easy to install, just push the old filter in and it will pop out. Then put the new filter in and push until in locks in. Now strong water flow and bucket full of big ice cubes.

If you have a fridge that uses this filter there’s no real choice in filters. That being said Amazon’s Subscribe and Save service is handy not only as a consistent source of acquisition but also as a reminder to change the filter every 6 months (which works well for our usage of water and ice from the fridge). We get several household maintenance items through Subscribe and Save for that reason. Been getting the filter from Amazon for a couple years now and have never had any problem with damage or delivery.
Remember to prime the filter good by running about a gallon (4 liters) of water through it after switching it out. The only time I’ve had a problem is when my ice maker tried to start running water before I got the filter primed. So now I make sure my ice maker is full before I change the filter.

I was a little reluctant to accept the claims that it filters 99% of possible contaminants. My former step dad is an expert in the field of water contamination and has worked on super fund sites to clean the waterways. I asked him if he’d be willing to test my unfiltered drinking water vs the filtered. He was happy to and reported back that it did as it stated. He was highly surprised at exactly how many contaminates are in my local drinking water. That’s another story…
As for the price it does fluctuate which is frustrating. People here complain that the price is expensive but what exactly is your health worth? People have to replace their furnace / AC filters on a regular basis, change the oil on the car, etc. so this is just part of adulting and having to do maintenance on an item. The added benefit is that this filter directly impacts your health. It’s much safer and easier to drink filtered water then it is to roll the dice with some of the microplastics in bottled water. Studies have shown that tap water has fewer microplastics and this filter takes out other contaminants. Win-win. Besides for the cost it’s a lot less per gallon then buying actual bottled water.

My biggest worry was that I would somehow buy the wrong part for our refrigerator. I overthought this and found myself deep in user manuals and websites researching compatible replacement filters. I was concerned as I saw other reviews for other products stating descriptions were not accurate. I took a leap of faith and got this filter for our refrigerator and it is compatible…thank you for such a great description on the product page.
Very easy to install, basically I push the old one in to disengage it, then pull it out. I then take the new one out of the box, remove the protective caps, and push it into the filter socket until it clicks, then I run about a gallon or 2 of water through the dispenser to clear the air out. This filter lasts us about 6 months and we heavily use the water dispenser on a daily basis.
This is on my reorder list every 6 to 8 months. No complaints whatsoever.
