Clear Double Sided Adhesive Mounting Tape

I purchase the tape to put a few things back into their places, and the results are mixed. I used it to stick the outlet back to its place and it has work fairly well so far. While I try to replace the sticky tap on the back of the cord holders, it does not last very long.

Delivered as expected and sticks very well.

I bought this tape because of the statement that it is “Super Strong: Where typical fasteners won’t work, this strong, double sided wall tape can hold up to 38 lbs, keeping objects firmly attached to any surface” as I needed to affix a 7oz light diffuser onto the ceiling around my new LED light. I applied four 4″ strips onto the plastic diffuser and braced it up to the ceiling for 15 minutes. I lasted two weeks and then fell down. All the tape adhered beautifully to the plastic diffuser, but just ripped the paint off the ceiling. Looking for something stronger that works on painted surfaces.

You would think that tape is just tape, but clear acrylic mounting tape is truly legions ahead of the foam version. I’ve tried both, and while the foam one works, the clear one is way more versatile.

Pros of acrylic:
* Strong adhesion, enough to adhere posters, wall accessories, and the like
* Easy to remove, comes off in one piece which is really important when you have an apartment or only want it to be temporary
* Clear color. Helps to hide it if you aren’t just directly covering it
* Holds better in hot weather. I’ve used this to keep cables from moving in my car and this stuff sticks better when it’s hot compared to the foam ones
* Way more waterproof than foam. I use it to mount a sponge holder and it’s been great.
* Lasts way longer than foam. I’ve kept both inside a dry and cool drawer and I found that the foam one eventually loses its stickiness when just lying around. I won’t fault the foam version too much since I’ve had it for a year or so inside the drawer, but the acrylic one stays sticky.

Cons of acrylic:
* More expensive per foot/meter. Not really an issue for me since I only use it sparingly, but might be a deal breaker for others.
* Foam versions usually have a higher weight limit. If you are mounting heavier objects, you might need to buy foam versions instead.
* Peeling and cutting is a pain. Scissors love to not cut properly from my experience and the film they use to prevent it from sticking to each other is unbelievably frustrating if you clipped your nails recently.

I love using this for posters, sticking cables onto the wall (which is a budget way of cable management, don’t judge), and mounting things like hooks and a sponge holder.

I wish I would’ve bought this a long time ago. I put all my birdhouses on the side of the garage as well as mounted two Ring cameras to brick. BRICK. AND THEY’VE STAYED. This has also been a gamechanger for all the ducks on the dash of my Jeep. I have never found anything that stuck to both a rubber duck and the dash material/texture… until I bought this. My Dad had duct tape to fix everything and now I have Gorilla tape.
