Rust-Oleum 249131 Universal All Surface Metallic Spray Paint, 11 oz, Oil Rubbed Bronze

The paint itself is fine and I didn’t have any problems with the can (dribbling, spotting, etc).

The only thing I would say, and it’s not really a criticism, is that the color is definitely dark gray. The photos in the listing show a lamp base and a mailbox to demonstrate the color, but in my opinion, they both look brownish gray, almost sable.

However, the color from the can is gunmetal gray, just like the can says, no brown whatsoever. So I guess it’s really the photos that I think are a bit misleading. That could be an issue with my computer monitor’s color settings, but I did buy another color from Rustoleum, and that color was identical to the photos in the listing.

Anyway, one can almost covered one side of an old battered and rusty screen door (without the screen), so it took three cans to get the whole screen door done. Looks fine, and it really covered up the rust and scratches. After rescreening and replacing the handle, it will look very good, not new, but so much better than before.

(A brand new screen door from Ace would have been more than twice as expensive once you add up the cost of three cans of spray paint, a rescreening kit, and a new door handle, so that’s cool, plus it’s a fun project and I’m enjoying doing the work myself!)

Love the brand but these new spray tops are terrible in the white color (farmhouse white, may be the correct name). The sprayer spits and eventually drips if you don’t use long-spraying waves over the surface you’re painting. Long strokes without spraying on and off is difficult for smaller objects up to 16 inches. I did not have issue with the black. Even on small objects. The white was another story. Two white cans constantly dripped and dribbled. Also, I believe the white cans said matte finish, which is what I wanted but they are a satin finish. Big difference! The black came out satin as well. I’m torn on three or four stars. For brand and durability, definitely five stars. For finish and mess-free, two or three stars. Based on my personal use and outcome: White, two stars. Black, four stars. I’ll look for the original spray cans next time I purchase this brand. The original cans also come out with the finish you want.

I sprayed 2 brushed nickel lamps rather than replacing. The spray worked well, even though it was a bit cool in the garage where I used it. I also sprayed the finials, and have 2 “brand new” bedside table lamps! I needed 2 coats, but it sprayed evenly without drips or globs Leaving!! The color is a beautiful bronze

I gave you multiple shots of the phone case at different angles. I had a purple phone case but I wanted it teal. Make sure to shake and spray at a distance. WAIT HOURS FOR IT TO DRY! One coat did the trick, but I was an impatient wife so my husband had to respray it where I messed it up lol. These pictures are with flash and without. I love this color and I don’t regret it!
