SHARPIE S-Gel, Gel Pens, Bold Point (1.0mm), Blue Ink Gel Pen, 12 Count

I originally purchased the .7 version and was not very impressed, but that isn’t surprising seeing as my favorite gel pen, Pilot G2, also disappoints me in the .7 variety. The 1.0, however, lived up to my expectations. I wont say i prefer them to the Pilot G2, but they are very similar.

Its hard to describe, and perhaps the difference would be unnoticeable to some, but the Pilot G2 1.0 seems to write a little more “loose”. The lines feel a little less controlled, and in a thick line weight i like a little fluidity. The Sharpie S-Gel 1.0 feels more controlled, and still can achieve the same line weight. I have noticed occassionally the pens will skip or write thinner if not held at the right angle, which is dissapointing, but once you get a feel for the angle the pen works best at, its much more natural and not troublesome to write with.

I feel a bit silly saying this, but one thing I love about the Sharpie S-Gel is the grip. The twisted design is very pleasing to touch as a fidget, as well as comfortable to hold. My main problem with the body of the pen is it seems impossible to open to replace the ink? Maybe I am missing something but that seems a bit unsustainable as the entire plastic body becomes garbage when the ink runs dry.

Over all I do recomend these pens, especially if you are a Pilot G2 fan! Give them a try and see if you prefer the slight differences!

I love these for work which is why I set up auto ship but in both boxes I’ve received to date, I question the authenticity since they normally have the little thing on the tip so the gel doesn’t leak when they are purchased in the store. In these packs, some do and some don’t. Additionally, I’ve had several that don’t write as expected and seem to be out of ink after only a few uses. Even though there appears to be ink still available, they don’t work. That occurred more with the first box purchased than the second, but I just started using the second box, so we’ll see. The price is good and I like not having to shop in store for them. Unfortunately I didn’t track how many didn’t work the first time to see if the cost ratio could justify the loss of a few per box.

The pens are fantastic! They write smoothly and don’t smear or blot. These are my new favorite writing instruments. I have them in both blue and black.

I usually buy the 0.7mm version of these, but got the 1.0mm this time bc my last pack (0.7mm) seemed to be drier than usual, like the lines would look like it was almost out of ink, but they were new pens. Not something I am used to out of this brand. So I went with the 1.0mm. Really loving the smooth and slightly larger lines. I think I will stick with this size in the future!

These pens are just amazing. I don’t use any other pen now. They just glide when you write and super comfortable to hold. Must get as your everyday all day pen!!!
