Definitely one of the best tools like it available. I tried a metal one off the shelf at the home depot and it didn’t measure up. The reel is smooth and doesn’t jump around. The tool also allows you to run it out until there’s no mud left. Great tool for a great price.

Worked out perfect.

I have a marshaltown banjo I like this one better much easier to tape without stilts. What makes it better is the feeding wheels. Only down side is you need thin mud and it will drip out the back where tape goes in. Overall it’s a solid banjo for the clams.

Worked great

It’s not the easiest thing to clean and it’s definitely not the highest quality, but for the price that’s not a problem. The only actual functional drawback I had with this was the amount of time I needed to spend reloading with mud. If you’re thinking about using this for the occasional remodeling taper it’s perfect for that but I’d recommended investing in a mud pump to help reload faster and cleaner. Definatley do not buy this if you’re a full time drywaller. Just bite the bullet and grab a big one. Your back will thank you.

Very simple little tool although it just ended up making one giant mess. Started using this for finishing off a basement and got maybe 2-3 passes done and ended up just going back to doing it manually. The paper kept jamming and the mud was never distributed evenly

Work in drywall and this works but would be best if it had a cutting edge at the tip of the tool to cut the tape. In my opinion is ok not to bad.

I recommend this to anyone who needs to tape a whole room or 2 but not for regular use. This was smaller than expected but works well, seems to do about 25 ft of tape before needing to refill. If you need to use regularly buy a larger one with a cutter instead, worth their price in time and effort saved. I disliked how the tape exit is hard to clean, but overall satisfied with performance for the price.

I’m an experienced amateur and have done quite a lot of hanging drywall but not much finishing. This was my first experience with a banjo taper and after some trial and error this thing was a great timesaver.
My two tips– first, thin your mud! Mix the mud with some water to get an even consistency like pudding. If it’s too thick you won’t be able to pull the tape out.
Second is pretty obvious, but just clean your tools carefully. The plastic is actually pretty easy to clean even when the mud is dry, but it’s still a whole lot easier if you clean the tool immediately after you’re finished.

This thing is a piece of junk. Do not buy not worth it to tape doesn’t pull out easy enough so all it does is make a big mess and rip the tape.
