Rust-Oleum 334048 Painter’s Touch 2X Ultra Cover Spray Paint, 12 oz, Gloss White

Blossom white is definitely not an optic white, and it is pretty flat/matte. It’s not as white as the trim in my house, but more white than ‘off white’. If it’s not against something bright white, it looks fine but will be noticeable if it is.

The paint applies nicely, and adhered to several kinds of old plastic (clean & I didn’t even bother to sand one). I like the big spray tip to push, even though I have tiny fingers, so it doesn’t hurt your fingertip like some. I used it for some old yellowed plastic things in my house- vent cover, odd wall plates (not switch plates, I wouldn’t recommend that!). Saved me at least $40 (vs replacing) and actually looks really nice!

I recommend it! Good quality, easy to apply, good color for generic white, and I’m thrilled with the price and saving a trip.

Small downsides:
(1) I painted an old silver phone cord to run outside (to make a wireless camera look wired). The paint is still VERY tacky after 4 days. I can only imagine the type/age of plastic or that it’s flexible, the paint isn’t compatible. It’s fine for me but be cautious depending on the type of item you paint… it could end up permanently sticky or unusable. There’s nothing on the can about not using on certain plastics, just that you can’t paint galvanized metal

(2) this paint smelled like overheated electronics for a couple days… so much so I was searching around for whatever device was about to catch on fire… Nope just the paint. Weird.

(3) I’d say I sprayed about 3 sq ft (thick coat) though it’s hard to tell, and used maybe 1/3- half of the can? I doubt you could cover more than a few small shelves or something, especially if bare wood.

Works great, the color doesn’t fade, I have used it multiple times and it last a long time. The color is perfect.

I used this to seal and protect some painted yard ornaments that will be exposed to all weather elements. It was easy to spray on several light coats with no running or discoloration of the ornaments. This product made the ornaments shine a little more, which improved their appearance somewhat. Time will tell how well it preserves the ornaments through rain, snow, wind, and intense sunshine.

Some of the furniture that I had was looking really old and like it needed a new look. I used the spray and when I tell you it look like a bought a new piece of furniture. The color is so vibrant and covers all the old marks. It dries very nicely. Give it like 24-48 he’s before you use it. Make sure you have good ventilation and something on the ground. I sprays wide and leaves residue. However, I love it

I recently used Rust-Oleum 249087 Painter’s Touch 2X Ultra Cover Spray Paint in Matte Clear to finish off a kitchen shelf I built and stained, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. However, it’s worth noting that Rust-Oleum’s Matte Clear spray paint is not as thick as standard brush-on polyurethane so I really can’t speak to protection level from moisture and stains for real wood. While this is not necessarily a drawback, it does mean that multiple coats may be necessary to achieve the desired level of protection and sheen. The thin application can be an advantage in some cases, as it dries quickly and allows for faster recoating. Just be prepared to apply several coats to achieve the same level of thickness and durability as a traditional finisher. Like I said, I used this on wood that will be susceptible to kitchen cleaners and cooking residue, so I’m not sure how this will hold up for that as there was no tangible difference in feel on the wood after using. That being said, it’s worked so far so I’d say Rust-Oleum 249087 Painter’s Touch 2X Ultra Cover Spray Paint in Matte Clear is an excellent choice for those looking for an easy-to-use alternative to brush-on polyurethane. Its user-friendly application process and stunning matte finish make it a fantastic option for a wide range of projects. Just keep in mind the need for multiple coats to match the thickness of traditional polyurethane, and you’ll be happy with the results.
